THE imminent El Nino weather phenomenon may curb palm oil output in Southeast Asia next year, and lift prices by more than 10% from current levels, according to OSK Research.
Alvin Tai, analyst at OSK Research in Malaysia, said that he was bullish for crude palm oil (CPO) prices in the next year due in part to the expectation that output is on the cusp of a three-year up-cycle. (El Niño could mean less rain along the Pacific and heavier-than-normal rains in the Caribbean)
